The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) on Thursday presented its distinguished “Good Governance Award’ to the MD/CEO of Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, Barrister Adebayo Somefun, in recognition of his good governance, sterling performance and excellent achievements.
Presenting the certificate, the President of the Group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic Ogakwu, revealed that the award is to acknowledge the stellar leadership, good governance, and outstanding performance of Barr. Adebayo Somefu, who overtime has delivered the mandate of the agency.
In his words, Ogakwu said: “CSGGG is happy to identify with Barr. Somefun; as our mandate is to acknowledge and ensure good governance in the society, we are happy to show it by this award presentation, that he has proven to be a good leader, an achiever, a pace setter and a great working force in the agency.
“NSITF was labeled with many bad names, but since the emergence of the MD/CEO, Barr. Somefun, reverse has been the case, he has successful placed the agency in its rightful position, through his dedication, service for humanity, diligence, consistency and more. it is on this note, that we present this award of Good Governance to his office in appreciation and recognition for all he has done and yet to do.”
Elated by the development, Barr. Somefun expressed immense gratitude that he was found worthy to receive such an award as he sincerely believes that its in everyone to make a ‘message out of every mess’, he disclosed that as a servant of the people, he and his team members whom he described as his foot soldiers, has maximum respect and due diligence for the nation, as it is appropriate that when serving people, you have to ensure that they get value in return.
Somefun, explained that achieving great feats requires a good team and he is beyond blessed to have a strong team consisting of great minds, he stated that although the department was in a deep mess when he assumed office, he and his team were able to prove that in every wilderness there is surely an oasis.
He said: I am beyond grateful for this award, we are set to define and achieve the mandate of the agency, and we will do so regardless of the mess we find ourselves in. In every mess, a message should be gained and that is what we are hoping to achieve.
Speaking further, Ogakwu thanked the MD/CEO for his humility and assured him that CSGGG is very open to future interface with the agency as the group intends to bridge the lacuna infringing real information accessibility from them to the public. He believes that such interaction will help balance the views of the people.
